to swamp- meaning

Verb: swamp  swómp

Drench or submerge or be drenched or submerged.

Example: "The tsunami swamped every boat in the harbour"

                "I am swamped with many books"

 Fill quickly beyond capacity; as with a liquid.

Example: "The images swamped his mind"
